It's been nearly one week since the negotiating period opened for NFL free agency, and the Steelers are still without an unquestioned starting quarterback.
Aaron Rodgers appears to be more than content in taking his time to make a decision of what he wants to do. There's a lot of talk circulating about what he wants to do, but it appears there are four potential options: The Steelers, Giants, Vikings or retire.
The question that needs answered more than what Rodgers will decide, at least from a Steelers perspective, is when the team will decide to draw a line in the sand and move onto something else?
The remaining options are lacking. Russell Wilson is still available. But, again, too many in the organization don't want him back. As far as we know, Kirk Cousins isn't available via trade. The best remaining option in free agency would be ... Joe Flacco?
Of course, the Steelers could go until late April with Mason Rudolph in pole position, and then select one of the young quarterbacks in the draft. It's not a great draft class, so there should not be high expectations for any of these guys, whether it's Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart, Ohio State's Will Howard, Texas' Quinn Ewers or Louisville's Tyler Shough.
People will keep their eyes focused on Rodgers until he makes a decision. But if it continues to drag on, I'm really curious to see if the Steelers just decide enough is enough.
