The Steelers' offseason program dates have been made official, with phase one of the voluntary program starting April 21. The program culminates with OTAs, which are set to begin May 27 and run through June 5, and minicamp, which'll take place June 10-12.
OTAs last two weeks, spanning workouts over three consecutive dates in each week. This year, the first week of OTAs take place May 27-29 and the second week will take place June 3-5. OTAs are not mandatory.
Minicamp is mandatory for all players on the 90-man roster. According to the collective bargaining agreement, players who miss minicamp without an excused absence can be fined $16,953 for the first day, $33,908 for the second day and $50,855 for the third day, a total of $101,716.
In years past, the Steelers have held three weeks of OTAs and one three-day minicamp, so it's interesting that it's decreased to two weeks this time.
