The Patriots are trading Joe Milton III and a seventh-round pick to the Cowboys in exchange for Dallas' compensatory fifth-round pick.
I don't believe the Steelers were ever seriously involved in trying to acquire Milton at the price of a fifth-round pick. They're already down to six picks in the draft, and pulling off this exact trade would have left them with three picks in the first five rounds. This is not a good enough draft to do that.
Also, it's a different situation for Dallas. They have an established high-dollar starter in Dak Prescott. Milton will back him up.
