Pat Narduzzi announced former Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett and defensive back A.J. Woods will serve as honorary coaches for the Blue-Gold Spring Game presented by MAC.BID at Acrisure Stadium April 12 at 1 p.m.
“Those guys are family, forever Panthers,” Narduzzi said in a press conference this week. “We’ve got two Super Bowl champions coming back here.”
Pickett and Woods earned Super Bowl rings last season as members of the Philadelphia Eagles to go along with their ACC Championship rings they each earned as members of the Pitt football team in 2021.
Pickett, a first-round selection (20th overall) by the Steelers in 2022, was traded to the Browns earlier this month. He finished his collegiate career (2017-21) as Pitt's all-time leader in passing yards (12,303), pass completions (1,045), total offense (13,112), touchdown responsibility (102) and passing touchdowns (81). He added 20 career rushing touchdowns, a record by a Pitt quarterback.
Woods signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2024 before signing to the Eagles’ practice quad prior to the start of the regular season. While at Pitt (2019-23), Woods collected 102 tackles (69 solo), 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, four interceptions, 29 passes defensed and forced one fumble.
