Baseball: Cantwell’s three hits not enough in loss
The Pitt Panthers lost game two at Georgia Tech on Saturday, 11-1, in seven innings.
Luke Cantwell had his fourth three-hit game of the season, and second in three games, as he went 3 for 4 with a double on Saturday afternoon. AJNessler extended his hitting streak to 12 games with his single in the third inning. Ryan Zuckerman drove in Pitt's only run today on an RBI double down the third base line. Zuckerman and Cantwell are tied for the team-lead in doubles with nine each.
Lorenzo Carrier, Gavin Miller and Caden Dulin each singled as well. With Carrier's single and two walks, he and Zuckerman have now reached base safely in all 17 games this season.
Drew Lafferty will start on the mound for the Panthers in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. He is 1-0 with a 4.86 ERA and has 12 strikeouts over 16 2/3 innings. Sunday's first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
