Milene Mazeroski, wife of Bill Mazeroski, died early this morning in Lansdale, Pa. She was 85.
The couple had been married for 64 years, having met while Mrs. Mazeroski worked in the Pirates' front office during Mr. Mazeroski's early playing days. They have two sons, Darren and David, and four grandchildren.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of Milene’s passing," Bob Nutting said. "A devoted wife and loving mother, she was and will forever be a part of our Pirates family. It is with heavy hearts that we send our condolences to Bill, Darren, David and the entire Mazeroski family.”

Speaking at his induction into the Pirates Hall of Fame in September 2022, Mr. Mazeroski told the tale, with Mrs. Mazeroski present, of how they were married in 1958 at Sacred Heart Church in Braddock not long after Danny Murtaugh had brought them together.
“We weren’t supposed to date the girls in the office,” Mr. Mazeroski recalled that day of a Murtaugh rule. “I’m walking through the office one day and he grabs me and says, ‘I want you to meet this girl and take her out.’ So I went over and I met her. We met under the Kaufmann’s clock Downtown, and that was that. Sixty-six years later, we’re still here.”
Mr. Mazeroski, author of the greatest home run in baseball history, is 87.
