• Dominguez hits a grounder to short and IKF delivers a low throw to first that Valdez can't scoop. IKF's error puts runners on the corners with one out. 

• Wentz punches out Wells for the first out.

• Heaney retires Grisham 4-3 to complete seven strong innings. Nice ovation as he exits. First 10-strikeout performance since June 30 of last year. On that day, he also threw seven innings against the Orioles as a member of the Rangers. 

• Peraza down swinging. That's 10 strikeouts for Heaney. 

• One pitch, one out. Dominguez flies out to Cruz in left-center. 

• Here comes Heaney to begin the seventh.

The guy has been consistently solid throughout his career. If there's anything this club did right over the offseason, it's bringing him aboard. 

• First walk surrendered by Heaney. Volpe reaches with two outs. 

• And he goes to the sinker again to get Chisholm swinging. Nine strikeouts today. 

• Slider is what Heaney threw there again to induce that soft out off the bat of Judge. Pitch looks good today. Also seems to be the first time Heaney has turned to the sinker. Didn't do so against Miami. 

• Judge sends a dribbler toward Heaney on a check swing and he's retired 1-3. Now 3 for 16 in his career vs. Heaney. 

• Bart flies out to right to end the fifth. 

• Cruz pops out to Volpe at short.

• Reynolds strikes out swinging for the first out of the fifth. 

• Brent Headrick now pitching for the Yankees.

• Bellinger flies out to left to end the inning. Heaney's through five innings at 75 pitches. 

• Goldschmidt lines a two-out single to center. Just sailed over the glove of a leaping Frazier. 

• And Valdez follows up by retiring Grisham U3. Two down. 

• Peraza retired on a pop out in foul territory. Nicely done by Valdez to take charge on it for the first out.

• RUN: IKF follows with an RBI double into the gap in left-center. Pirates, 4-1

• Frazier singles past a diving Volpe. 

• RUN: Pham plates Valdez with a sacrifice fly to right. Pirates, 3-1

• Valdez sends a ball into the right-center field gap and hustles around the bases for his first big-league triple.

• McCutchen retired 6-3. Nice scoop at first by Goldschmidt on a low throw by Volpe. 

• Heaney strands the runner with his eighth strikeout of the day. Gets Dominguez to swing through an 0-2 curve. He's at 65 pitches -- 44 strikes -- through four. 

• And then there's that. Cruz miscue turns a single into a triple for Wells. 

• Cruz has not been very good out in center to start the year, but that's an example of what he's capable of. Nice diving catch to rob Volpe of a hit, and potentially extra bases if he can't make the catch. 

• Heaney adds his seventh strikeout for the the day. Got Chisholm to swing through a changeup on the lower third. 

• Bart goes down swinging to strand the runners. Ends the third. 

• Cruz singles to right. Reynolds holds at third. Runners on the corners for Bart. 

• RUNS: Reynolds drives in two runs with a double off the wall in center. Sinker belt high on the outer third from Warren. Pirates, 2-1

• Hayes continues his stellar stretch with a two-out single to left. First Pirates hit. 

• Pirates get their first baserunner. IKF draws a two-out walk. 

• Frazier flies out to center. Two outs. 

• Pham strikes out swinging to begin the third. 

• Heaney's success against Judge isn't anything new. Judge is now 3 for 15 with a homer, two walks and 10 strikeouts in his career against Heaney.

• Heaney freezes Judge with a four-seamer on the outer third. Six strikeouts this afternoon. Heaney at 48 pitches -- 32 strikes -- through three innings. 

• Slider has been a good pitch for Heaney today. Just picked up his third strikeout with it. Got Bellinger to swing through one on the outer third. Two outs. 

• Goldschmidt flies out to Pham in left-center. Nearly a collision. Cruz backed off at the last minute. 

• Grisham sends a first-pitch fastball to center for a leadoff single. Right down the middle. Solid series for Grisham here.

• Wow. Volpe comes up with a sliding stop and a strong throw from his shortstop position to rob McCutchen of a base hit. Two down.

• Triolo was scratched from today's lineup due to low back discomfort. Currently being treated by the medical staff. His status is day to day.

• Now Reynolds stares at strike three down the middle. Two outs.

• Hayes goes down swinging to begin the home half. Breaking ball out of the zone. 

• Volpe flies out to right to end the top of the first. Heaney threw 15 of 22 pitches for strikes in the inning. 

• RUN: Bellinger swipes second and then Chisholm hits a double into the right-center field gap that neither Cruz or Cutch could get to. Yankees, 1-0

• Heaney fools Judge with a 3-2 slider on the inner third. Two outs. 

• Bellinger reaches on an infield single. Diving stop by IKF at short, but can't fully corral it in time for a throw.
