• Valdez thought he had ball four there and gets rung up on a fastball that caught the very bottom of the zone.

• Pham reels in a Bell fly out and he head to the bottom of the ninth.

• More defensive miscues as a ball drops between IKF, Hayes and Suwinski.

• Pham now drops a live drive in right as Ruiz reaches first.

• Another "Sell! The! Team!" chant breaks out here. It wasn't as loud as the previous ones, but it was there.

• Cruz strieks out for the third time tonight. He looked to be shaking his hand before that last pitch.

• After everything that happened last night, you would think there would be some energy or some life from this team, but, again, there's nothing.

• Suwinski tracks down a fly ball in left center from Wood. Honestly, it looked like Cruz and Suwinski were going to collide for a second before Cruz peeled off.

• RUNS: A shattered bat single from Nuñez scores both runners after a 10-pitch battle. Nationals, 3-0

• Crews singles to right center and Rosario advances all the way to third.

• DeJong leaves the game and Amed Rosario will pinch run for him at first.

• Keller pegs DeJong. Looks like it hit him near the eye, not sure if it caught the helmet at all but definitely made contact with his face.

• Valdez recovers after diving to make a play at first and tosses to Keller covering the bag to get Bell.

• End of fifth inning: In true Pirates form, IKF grounds into a 6-4-3 double play.

• Why not bunt there? Frazier pops out to center.

• Pham walks on four pitches, Irvin wasn't anywhere close.

• Suwinski singles into right field on a 1-2 fastball at the top of the zone.

• Keller gets out of the jam with a ground ball to first base. He's up to 74 pitches. 

• Both runners advance on a wild pitch.

• Two quick outs on back-to-back fly outs to Cruz.

• Wood flies out to Cruz and both runners hold.

• Young bunts, Keller fields it but Valdez had also come in for it, leaving no one covering first.

• Nuñez makes solid contact with a fastball down the middle and singles to left.

• End of fourth inning: Valdez grounds out softly to first base.

• Hayes watches a fastball on the outer half of the plate.

• Reynolds strikes out for the second time tonight. He swung over a low curveball.

• Crews flies out to Cruz as Keller uses just five pitches to get through the fourth.

• Valdez tracks down a fly ball from DeJong in foul territory.

• End of third inning: Cruz strikes out on a 2-2 curveball in the dirt.

• Davis then pops up to second on a high fastball.

• IKF watches a sinker at the bottom of the zone for Irvin's second strikeout of the night.

• Suwinski retreats to the warning track and makes a nice catch to end the Nationals' threat.

• Nationals execute a perfect hit and run and Lowe hits it right where IKF was. Runners on first and third.

• Some more miscommunication between Cruz and Suwinski and the ball almost drops between them. Suwinski luckily makes the catch though. 

• Young walks to start off the third. 

• End of second inning: Frazier grounds out softly to first base.

• Pham makes weak contact on a 1-2 curveball and beats out the slow roller for an infield single.

• Suwinski hits a soft grounder back to Irvin for an easy 1-3 groundout. 

• Valdez flies out to right field. 

• Quick work from Keller, he retires the Nationals in order with 14 pitches as Nuñez grounds out to Valdez.

• Crews lines out to center field.

• Keller strikes out DeJong with a slider up in the zone. He swung right under it.

• End of first inning: Hayes lines out to center field. Really solid contact off the bat, 102.7 mph. 

• Reynolds strikes out on a high fastball.

• Cruz sends a rocket right back at Irvin, but the right-hander recovers to make the play. 107.3 mph off the bat.

• Garcia makes contact with a first-pitch curveball and pops out to Valdez.

• Bell hits a soft grounder to Keller.

• Lowe walks on six pitches, Keller missed way outside with a sweeper.

• Keller bounces back quickly to strike out Ruiz with a fastball in the bottom right corner of the zone.

• HOME RUN: Wood sends a 3-2 fastball over the Miller Time bar in centerfield for his first career leadoff home run. Went 445 feet. Nationals, 1-0
