Bubba Chandler made it clear as to why he is one of the best pitching prospects in all of baseball. In two starts last week against the Reds' Triple-A affiliate, the Louisville Bats, Chandler struck out 14 batters while allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over eight innings pitched.
In his first start Tuesday, Chandler posted four shutout innings, walking two and striking out eight. He hit 100 mph on his fastball once.
He dialed it up even more on Sunday, hitting triple-digits four times, including one at 101.5 mph. Chandler averaged over 98 mph with his fastball during the week and registered 11 whiffs on 27 swings (40.7%) with it.
Nearly half of his pitches were either a called strike or whiff. The only blemish on the week was a two-run home run he allowed to Ivan Johnson. The fastball he allowed a home run with was 101 mph.
