Headlining the group will be Konnor Griffin, the team's first-round pick in 2024 and a consensus top-100 prospect in all of baseball. Griffin was considered to have the highest upside of anyone in his draft class and flashed some of that during his stint in major league camp.
He's listed as an infielder on the initial roster but will also play center field.
Other notable names:
• Zander Mueth: His low release and high extension create one of the most unique looks from the mound. Mueth was the Florida Complex League Pitchers of the Year in 2024 before making seven starts with the Marauders to close the season.
• Jhonny Severino: Acquired in the Carlos Santana trade, Severino split time between the FCL and Bradenton last year. He recorded double-digit home runs and stolen bases while posting a .869 OPS as a teenager.
• Yordany De Los Santos: He's been one of the best players in the FCL over the last two seasons but has struggled when he gets to Bradenton. He did cut down on the strikeouts in 2024 but still needs to improve his swing decisions. De Los Santos is a smooth defender who is more than capable at shortstop.
• Axiel Plaz: Originally called up from the complex due to multiple injuries at the catching positions, Plaz hit his way to a permanent spot in the lineup. He was among the Florida State League leaders in home runs despite playing in about half of the games. The next step will be to continue improving his swing decisions, but the power seems legit, and he'll be 19 for most of the season.
• Tony Blanco Jr.: With perhaps the best raw power in the minors, Blanco put up exit velocity numbers that compared with some of the best in the majors. The key will be making better contact. He will begin the season on the 60-day injured list.
