The Red Sox have traded former Pirate Quinn Priester to the Brewers for Yophery Rodriguez, the Brewers' No. 7 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, a competitive balance Round A draft pick and a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The Pirates traded Priester to the Red Sox at last year's trade deadline in exchange for Nick Yorke, who is currently with Class AAA Indianapolis after playing in 11 games for the Pirates last season and hitting .216 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Priester made one appearance for Class AAA Worcester this season and threw 87 pitches in four innings while giving up two earned runs and striking out six. The Brewers have run into some pitching troubles this season as Nestor Cortes (elbow), Tobias Myers (oblique), Aaron Civale (hamstring), Brandon Woodruff (shoulder), Aaron Ashby (oblique), DL Hall (lat) and Robbert Gasser (elbow) are all on the IL.
