For those wondering: Filip Hallander is interested in coming back to North America. The Penguins still hold his North American rights and are interested in having him back. His SHL team, Timra, is preparing for next season under the assumption that he won't be back next season. The reason there haven't been any kind of updates since this first came out a couple of months ago is because Hallander can't sign while his SHL season is still underway.
Hallander, who turns 25 years old in June, is No. 2 in the SHL in scoring with 53 points (26 goals, 27 assists) in 51 games. His reasoning for returning to Sweden initially was largely family-based after he had a son when he was 21. Hallander also cited an "unfinished business" mentality in wanting to return to his former (and hometown) team -- when he left Timra the first time, Timra had just been relegated to the second league, but has since returned to the SHL.
