Sidney Crosby's second goal in the Penguins' 5-3 win over the Stars was a thing of beauty.
Yeah, the goal was a great. Classic Crosby, dropping to one knee as he fires the shot. But the setup from Rutger McGroarty -- quickly receiving the pass from Bryan Rust and immediately getting it to Crosby with a no-look backhand pass -- that's impressive stuff for a guy who has been on that line all of three games now:
"You saw on that goal, he's in the right spot at the right time and makes a great play on his back hand," Crosby said of McGroarty there.
I asked Crosby if he called for that pass, or if that was all McGroarty. He paused with a puzzled look on his face before saying he didn't even know. He knows he called for the pass in his head, but doesn't think he was able to verbalize that in the moment.
Casual telepathy, apparently. No big deal.
