Sidney Crosby is still garnering recognition from his peers as one of the top players in the game 20 years into his career.
The NHLPA on Tuesday released the results of their annual player poll, a survey of all the league's players on other players in the league and more. Crosby was voted the league's most complete player, receiving 33.81% of the vote to win the category for a sixth consecutive season.
Crosby ran away with the voting for which player you would pick if you needed to win a faceoff, earning 20.39% of the vote. Last year's winner, Ryan O'Reilly, finished second behind Crosby by over 10 percentage points. Crosby also won the vote for smartest overall player with 27.02% of the vote, edging out Nikita Kucherov at 24.71%.
Crosby finished fourth in the voting for best overall forward, receiving 1.53% of the vote. Connor McDavid ran away with this one, getting 73.89% of the votes. Crosby also finished fifth in the voting for best playmaker with 2.7% of the votes, a category in which Kucherov won with 48.25% of the votes.
The only other Penguins player to finish in the top five in any category is Kevin Hayes, who won the vote for which player would make a good broadcaster after retiring. It only took 4.85% of the vote for Hayes to win, with the voting being extremely spread out among the league.
