THE SETUP
Lots to share here today on the occasion of the Pittsburgh Baseball Club's 135th home opener, in large part because it'll be our city's first baseball game with fans since 2019:
• Gates will open to the public at noon.
• Everyone's encouraged to be in their seats by 1 p.m., at which time pregame festivities will start. That'll include a memorial to those lost to COVID-19, among them the Family's own Grant 'Buck' Jackson.
• Yes, the game's sold out, but limited tickets do remain for the games Saturday and Sunday.
• The promotional giveaways are a magnetic season schedule and a Pirates mask.
• Observe all the safety regulations. Don't be an idiot.
Here are all the details on the opener.
Alex Stumpf and I will both be here to cover the entire event. Derek Shelton's expected to speak with us at 11 a.m.
