The Steelers have signed former Eagles and Texans safety Grayland Arnold.

The team made the signing official Wednesday morning.

Arnold, 26, originally signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor after the 2020 NFL Draft. Arnold played in six games as a rookie, recording 11 tackles and one pass defensed, but spent the majority of the season on Philadelphia's practice squad.

The Texans swiped Arnold from the Eagles' practice squad in September 2021 and spent the majority of the next three seasons on Houston's practice squad. With the Texans, Arnold played in 20 games, recording 22 tackles and one forced fumble. His 2022 and 2023 seasons were cut a bit short due to stints on injured reserve.

Arnold primarily serves as an option on special teams. Of his 634 career snaps in the NFL, 406 have come via special teams. Six of his 33 career tackles have come via special teams, according to Pro Football Focus. Arnold's also committed three special teams penalties throughout his career.

This is clearly a depth option for the Steelers, as Minkah Fitzpatrick, DeShon Elliott and Damontae Kazee are atop the depth chart at safety, with Trenton Thompson and sixth-round pick Ryan Watts vying for snaps, as well. But, adding a guy who can possibly contribute on special teams isn't a bad option at this point of the offseason.
