Pat Freiermuth helped off the field after sustaining a concussion in the third quarter.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Steelers were not only beaten up on the scoreboard in Sunday's 38-3 loss to the Bills, they were also beaten up physically.

Pat Freiermuth and Levi Wallace top the list of injured players as both left the game in the third quarter and entered the concussion protocol. Mike Tomlin confirmed after the game that both players did sustain concussions.

Freiermuth sustained his concussion on his second catch of the game. Buffalo defenders quickly collapsed on Freiermuth, and the Steelers' tight end sustained a shot to the head amid the jostling from multiple hits.

Wallace was injured on a play where he was blocked hard by an offensive lineman. It was his first appearance against the Bills after spending four seasons in Buffalo.

Larry Ogunjobi (back) and Cam Sutton (hamstring) left the game in the first half. Both were initially ruled questionable to return, but were ruled out during halftime. Sutton entered the game listed as questionable after dealing with groin and hamstring issues that limited him in practice throughout the week.

Wallace's and Sutton's absences left cornerback duties in the hands of James Pierre and Josh Jackson. The latter was elevated from the practice squad Saturday afternoon.

Steven Sims also dealt with an eye injury that he sustained prior to the game, and Tomlin said the injury caused Sims to deal with some blurred vision. The Steelers held Sims out for the first kickoff from the Bills, making Pierre the next man up. Pierre fumbled the kick, giving the ball to the Bills deep in Steelers territory. Sims was able to return to the game and return kicks and punts, in addition to multiple snaps on offense.

Sims left the locker room with a patch over his left eye.
