The Penguins and the NHL on Wednesday announced their 2022-23 regular-season schedule.
The highlight: On Jan. 2, 2023, they'll play the Bruins at Fenway Park in the 2023 Discover Winter Classic. It will be the sixth time they play in an outdoor game.
Also of note:
• They will open the season Oct. 13 at home against the Coyotes.
• Three of their first four games are at home before they take a five-game road trip, four of which are out west against teams in the Pacific Division.
• Fourteen of their first 21 games are on the road. Game No. 22 will begin the first of two five-game homestands throughout the season (Nov. 26-Dec. 6 and March 7-14).
• The defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche will make their lone visit to PPG Paints Arena on Feb. 7.
• The Capitals will visit PPG Paints Arena to play the Penguins just once, and it won't be until the tail-end of the season on March 25.
• On April 13 the Penguins will play their final regular-season game at Nationwide Arena against the Blue Jackets.
