After losing Judah Mintz back in November, Jeff Capel's Panthers had zero commitments for the future of the program. But that changed Sunday, as a recruit announced his commitment to the program on Twitter.
Marlon Barnes Jr., a 6-foot-6 small forward from Lyndhurst, Oh. posted this Sunday afternoon:

Barnes plays for Brush High School, and is a former teammate to Pitt's current leading scorer John Hugley IV. ESPN rates Barnes as a four-star recruit and the sixth-best prospect from Ohio. He also had offers by Miami and Cleveland State. He's the class of 2023, so he would join the Panthers in two more seasons.
Right now, Barnes represents the lone commitment for the future of Pitt basketball after Mintz's pull back of his commitment. The program has to build itself back after losing five players to the Transfer Portal last year and only bringing in one freshman in Nate Santos for the 2021 class.
Still as of now, there are no recruiting commitments for the 2022 class.
