The Steelers will be without Pressley Harvin III against the Chiefs Sunday after his father passed away on Christmas morning.

Harvin wrote on Instagram earlier this week that his father’s battle with a terminal illness, which he had been fighting for seven years, had advanced. The Steelers were able to arrange for Harvin’s father and family to go to last Sunday’s game against the Titans.

“To my Father: Thank you for everything that you’ve done for me,” Harvin wrote on Instagram. “I’m so grateful that I was even able to have you here for so long. You’ve been battling health issues since you were 16. You could’ve gave up a long time ago but you were determined to fight. It hurts so much to even write this because I feel like you’re still with me. You taught me what it takes to be a man and so much more. You are the strongest man on this Earth, as some days you woke up and no matter the discomfort or pain you felt you went on to provide for me and my entire family. You touched so many people’s lives while you were here. You motivated me every day to be the best me. God took you home this morning away from all of the pain, struggles, and hardships you faced.

“Thank you for being you, through it all Pops. I love you so much, and pray that I get to see you again one day.”

The Steelers are set to play the Chiefs in Kansas City Sunday at 4:25 p.m.

CHIEFS COVID-19 UPDATE

Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill has cleared COVID-19 protocols and is expected to play Sunday.

Hill was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, along with many other Chiefs players.

Patrick Mahomes’ other top receiving target, Travis Kelce, has been removed from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and added to the injury report for Kansas City leading up to tomorrow. It's expected the Chiefs will know Sunday morning whether Kelce can play or not. The addition to the injury report is non-injury related so it looks as thought Kansas City wants to see if he is in good enough shape to play against the Steelers.

ROSTER MOVES

With Harvin out, the Steelers signed Corliss Waitman to the 53-man roster from the Patriots' practice squad. The team also added punter Cameron Nizialek to the practice squad and elevated him to the Active/Inactive roster for Sunday's game.

Waitman was with the Steelers all of last season on their practice squad and is familiar with holding for placekicker Chris Boswell.

Guard J.C. Hassenauer was activated to the 53-man roster from the Active/Inactive List while guard Rashaad Coward, running back Trey Edmunds and linebacker John Simon to the active roster from the practice squad as COVID-19 replacements for Sunday's game.
