Each week, our football staff at DK Pittsburgh Sports predicts the Steelers' game. (Or not.) Here are this week's picks for the game against the Broncos, tomorrow, 1:02 p.m., at Heinz Field.
For a full preview, check my Kickoff.
Dale Lolley (1-3): The Steelers play four of their next five at home. They also have their bye week in that stretch, as well. This is where they have to make some hay. There's an adage in gambling that you always bet against a quarterback in his first game back from a concussion, as their processing is just a little slower. Teddy Bridgewater was concussed last week against the Ravens, but will start Sunday. Steelers, 23-17
Chris Carter (1-3): This is going to be an old school defensive showdown with two pass rush groups that go up against bad offensive lines and shaky quarterbacks. But this is Roethlisberger's chance to show that he can turn his season around. I don't see him doing anything spectacular, but the kind of 'just enough' football they brought him back for to win games. Steelers, 23-13
Ramon Foster (2-2): Mike Tomlin used to walk into our room on the week we'd play Denver, put up a picture of Von Miller and call him 'A Walking Yellow Jacket.' Never heard him say that about anyone else. It'll be tough for the Pittsburgh offense to get right against that guy and that group. Broncos, 24-10
Tom Reed (1-3): The Steelers are desperate for a win to avoid the start of mock draft season coming to Pittsburgh in October. This feels like a breakout game for Najee Harris. The home team will do just enough. Steelers, 21-17
Eddie Provident (2-2): I'm not buying that Ben is washed up. I think he had a bad game. He has shown flashes, but needs to put it all together for one game and build off it. What better time than now? Steelers, 24-10
Dejan Kovacevic (0-4): Really? You read this far to get to the guy who's gotten nothing right all season? ... Well, OK, gluttons, you asked for it: I've got the offense finally figuring stuff out, led by Najee, Diontae Johnson and a semi-rebound for Ben. Now go bet the other way. Steelers, 26-13
