ALTOONA, Pa. -- Thanks for stopping by!
We're glad you're here. And if you're here, then you obviously care about Penn State sports. My goal is that you will stop by this site every day to get all of the latest news, notes, analysis and commentary about the Nittany Lions.
In short, we want this to be your one-stop shop for Penn State coverage and everything important that relates to the Nittany Lions -- including news from around the Big Ten, national college football, basketball and wrestling. I'm looking forward to joining forces with Jarrod Prugar to provide you with outstanding Penn State coverage.
I have covered Penn State football since 2006, first for the Altoona Mirror and most recently as editor of Nittany Sports Now. I realize, as do you, that there are many sites devoted to Penn State coverage, so fans certainly have their choice of what they want to read and where.
OK, so what will make our coverage different here at DK Pittsburgh Sports?
A lot of things, actually.
First and foremost will be our comprehensive analysis and commentary. We will cover all the news on and off the field. We also will take you deeper and discuss why the news is important, what it means and how all the pieces fit together in the big picture.
The plan is to post one big, all-encompassing article, to be called our PSU B1G Story, every weekday afternoon (around 3-4 p.m.). This usually will be a long, detailed read, filled with news of the day and commentary. It will include everything Penn State fans need to know about the program itself and anything else that impacts the Nittany Lions.
Again, consider this to be a one-stop shop of Penn State coverage that you'll be able to rely on every weekday.
On top of that, Jarrod and I will be posting breaking news, interesting features, game previews, podcasts, videos and other items throughout the week. Then we'll have extensive coverage of games each Saturday, followed by detailed analysis, commentary and a podcast on Sundays.
There also will be a heavy emphasis on players from the Pittsburgh area who have gone on to play at Penn State, plus recruiting updates on local prospects.
Having all of this content on the fantastic DK Pittsburgh Sports site and app will make it easy for Penn State fans to find everything they want and need to know about the Lions.
A little about me:
I'm originally from Arkansas, have been a sports journalist for 29 years and have lived in Altoona since 1999. I have covered the Altoona Curve since their inaugural season in 1999 and currently am the longest-tenured minor league beat writer in the country for one franchise.
I started on the Penn State football beat in 2006 and have covered every aspect of the program since then. I am a Heisman Trophy voter and also a Wooden Award voter for college basketball. By the way, college basketball is my favorite sport, so we will cover Penn State hoops here, as well as the national powerhouse wrestling program.
I also host a radio program, 'Sports Central,' each weekday on WRTA in Altoona. The current show is going on one year, after the original version ran for 10 1/2 years on another local station.
Most importantly, I tell it like it is. In sports. In life. In everything. I have a lot of opinions, some of which you'll agree with, some you won't. That's fine. We can all be friends here, even if we disagree about sports sometimes.
The bottom line for me is to tell you the truth about your team. I will be fair. I will offer praise when it is warranted. I also will not shy away from criticism when it is needed, as well.
Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you will continue to do so every day.
