Brandon Dubinsky

Brandon Dubinsky isn't the biggest fan of Sidney Crosby.

Dubinsky, who hasn't played since the 2018-19 season due to a chronic wrist injury but hasn't officially retired, recently made an appearance on The Garage Beers podcast, and he was asked about the time he and Crosby dropped the gloves in 2015.

"

"Whatever I can bring to the table that I can control, whether if it was getting under Crosby’s skin or getting under any of the other top players’ skins, chipping in, blocking shots on the penalty kill, winning face-offs, scoring big goals, whatever it was, that’s what I was all about," Dubinsky said of his pest role.

The hosts then asked Dubinsky about going head-to-head with Alex Ovechkin, who Dubinsky said is a "great guy":

"

Dubinsky then shared his feelings on the two superstars.

"Everybody wants to talk about Sid and Ovi, whatever. Dude, f--- Sid. I’ll take Ovi every day of the week," he said. "I got an Ovi stick. Listen, I asked Ovi for an autographed stick. I got it from him. Thanked him for it. I would never ask Sid for a stick, ever."

Dubinsky caught a lot of heat on social media for his comments, and then doubled down on Twitter on Friday. He said that while Crosby is "obviously one of the best ever," he "just whined too much":

I can't imagine that Crosby would be offering Dubinsky a stick anytime soon regardless, given the history between the two beyond that fight.

""

“I’m not surprised," Crosby said in 2015 after the above crosscheck to the neck from Dubinsky. "If I was going to get one of those shots it would probably be from him.”
