VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Penguins' final pick of the 2019 NHL Draft was Finnish defenseman Santeri Airola, selected in the seventh round on Saturday.

The Penguins acquired the pick used to select Airola (No. 211 overall) from the Sharks in exchange for the Penguins' seventh-round draft pick in 2020.

Airola, who turns 19 next week, was ranked the No. 130 European skater by Central Scouting.

Airola primarily played for SaiPa's U20 team in the Jr. A SM-liiga last season, recording four goals, 27 assists, and a plus-1 rating in 41 games. He appeared in 10 games with SaiPa's U18 team, scoring four goals and 11 assists. He played three professional games with SaiPa's Liiga team, recording no points and a minus-1 rating.

Airola is under contract with Kettera of the second-tier Mestis league next season.
