Francisco Cervelli is making progress in his recovery from a concussion, but it is not yet clear when he might return to the Pirates’ active roster.
Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday before the Pirates played the Braves at Sun Trust Park that Cervelli no longer has concussion symptoms. However, Cervelli has not yet been cleared to begin working out, though that could change when he visits a specialist later this week.
Cervelli has been out since being struck on the back of the head by Joc Pederson’s broken bat in a game May 25 at PNC Park against the Dodgers.
