Jason Bay will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on June 15.

The former Pirates left fielder was one of four people announced Tuesday as part of the 2019 induction class. The others were former major league pitcher Ryan Dempster, Phillies bench coach Rob Thomson and former Blue Jays general manager Gord Ash.

Bay, a native of Trail, British Columbia, played for the Pirates from 2003-08, hitting. .281/.375/.515 with 139 home runs and 50 stolen bases. He remains the only Pirates player ever to be named National League Rookie of the Year, winning the award in 2004. Bay was also selected to two All-Star Games.

In addition to the Pirates, Bay played with the Padres (2003), Red Sox (2008-09), Mets (2010-12) and Mariners (2013) during his 11-year career.

“It was a very pleasant and somewhat unexpected surprise to get that call from the Canadian Hall of Fame,” Bay said in a press release issued by the Hall. “I’m proud and honored to be recognized with great people who have helped build baseball in Canada in various ways, to the elite level it has become. I’m looking forward to it!”

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame is in St. Marys, Ontario.
