DENVER — It was by serendipitous scheduling that the Penguins were facing the NHL's worst team on Thursday at Pepsi Center. The defending Stanley Cup champions couldn't have played much worse.

Matt Murray was sharp as a tack, however, and Patric Hornqvist added two goals, as the Penguins emerged with a 4-1 victory.
