Jim Ferry felt helpless. He spent each timeout urging Duquesne's players to bring more toughness against Rhode Island, and he benched three of his starters when he thought that message was ignored.

No on-court adjustment or impassioned speech seemed to matter, as Rhode Island scored 50 points in the paint on its way to a 90-69 rout of the Dukes on Saturday afternoon at the Palumbo Center.

Ferry's frustration finally boiled over during the brief postgame news conference.
