The Penguins have been at their best in December, toying with most opponents while producing stunning offensive numbers, but they decidedly were not at their best against the Hurricanes on Wednesday at PPG Paints Arena. Not even close.

And they won anyway, because these days, that's what they do.

Chris Kunitz evened the game in the third period, setting the stage for Patric Hornqvist to set up Carl Hagelin for the game-winner in the Penguins' 3-2 victory:

Marc-Andre Fleury was brilliant in relief of Matt Murray, who apparently sustained an injury in the second period.

Mike Sullivan had a message for his team following the second period.
