Ryan Luther sat in the brightly lit media room in the Petersen Events Center while quietly and humbly describing the baseline jumper that capped a career night, when Jamel Artis abruptly interrupted him.

"Tell them you made a great play," Artis urged Luther. "You made a great play. You made a great play. It was awesome."

Luther, the unassuming junior forward who is the first man off the bench, posted up a defender and with his eye on the draining shot clock, positioned himself for the jumper at the buzzer that helped Pitt hold off Rice for a 83-73 win Saturday night.
