Pirates plummet to .500 after rebuilding Brewers sweep back

Remember, if you will, a time long ago. Like, a week ago, when the Pirates were riding high after sweeping the Brewers in a four-game series at Miller Park.

A season-high six consecutive losses later, they couldn't be any lower without going under.

Fourth-place Milwaukee dropped the Pirates to 67-67 and 3 1/2 games out of playoff position with a 10-0 win Sunday afternoon at PNC Park, completing a three-game sweep of its own at PNC Park.

Jonathan Villar's grand slam off Juan Nicasio in the sixth broke the game open, and two late bombs by Chris Carter and Domingo Santana made the final score more absolute, but the Pirates' offense once again came up well short. Against Chase Anderson and three relievers, they were shut out for the third time in five games.
