Gerrit Cole stood by his locker, hands on his hips, patiently waiting for the media to approach.

His accountability remains. His dominance has disappeared.

Cole, the can't-miss ace who hovered somewhere between really good and great during his first three major league seasons, has lost his way. He was again easily hittable as the Pirates' miserable homestand ended with a 5-4 loss to the Astros at PNC Park on Wednesday.

Cole attempted to explain his situation. He's never struggled like this at any level of baseball.
