On many other nights, Jameson Taillon or Tony Watson could have been the big story in the Pirates' 3-2 defeat of the Reds on Friday night at PNC Park.

But who can resist a suicide squeeze? Or a walkoff home run? Certainly not this reporter.

"Just get the ball on the ground," Jordy Mercer said, recalling his do-or-die fifth-inning bunt that brought home John Jaso with the go-ahead run. "You can't control what pitch is going to be thrown. You don't know where it's going to be, so you just gotta get it down on the ground and hope for the best."
