The station made the announcement today at 2 p.m. In an accompanying statement, news director Mike Oliveira said, "Every day, the DKPittsburghSports.com team delivers fantastic reporting and analysis. WPXI airs some of the biggest Steelers and Penguins games, along with some of the biggest sporting events in the world, including the Olympics. By working together, WPXI’s sports team and DKPittsburghSports.com can deliver even more sports journalism to Pittsburgh sports fans on all of their screens, every day."
Key components of the partnership:
• Regular contributions to Channel 11 News by our reporters, usually from the road
• Regular contributions on 'The Final Word,' the station's Sunday night talk show
• Regular contributions to other WPXI original sports programming, notably '11 on the Ice' before and after Penguins games and 'Black and Gold Zone'
• Exchange of video/audio content -- not our articles -- between the respective sites/apps
• Affiliation with WPXI's 'SkyLights' page and app to offer our readers, for the first time, high school football coverage
